The SetList is a music podcast hosted by Forth District’s A&R, Adán Bean, and features artist from every part of the musical landscape. The SetList seeks to reveal an artist’s interests, influences, and background in music like no other interview has done before.
On this episode, Adán sits down with the music journalist and indie soul singer Rob Milton!
Rob Milton is so many things. On one hand, he’s 1/3 of the incredibly talented vocal group Cousin (think “Glee meets the Clark Sisters”). Fresh off the heels of the release of Best Life 2.0, Rob Milton is poised to take over the world and we’re just happy he took time out from globe domination. We discuss what it’s like to be young and creative, working multiple jobs to make it as a creative professional and why do so many singers sound the same these days (“Where’d these accent come from?”).
From his bio, “a young creative with one foot in both sides of the industry, Rob Milton is a music journalist and indie soul singer who has managed to make a name for himself through releasing an abundance of quality music and serving as a contributing blogger for SoulBounce and Virgin.com. His passion and presentation have allowed him opportunities such as performing on stage at Washington, DC’s Howard Theatre, New York City’s famed SOB’s venue, recording at Converse’s Rubber Tracks Studio in Brooklyn, New York, and receiving press nods from MTV UK, OkayPlayer, AfroPunk, Solange’s Saint Heron, SoulBounce, and Ebony Magazine. His music can also be heard in Black And Sexy TV’s Rider web series and Centric’s Being.”
